Check out the new "FiveNine" and 14x7 wood drums. All handmade one of a kind!!!
I came up with the Excalibur "Edition" back in 2012. It was the first ceramic coated drum on the market and to my knowledge it still is. The drum is the standard Big Chief with all features but baked in ceramic...why??
The coating does three things:
1. It produces an additional high frequency wich can be described as "white noise". This makes this drum a perfect recording drum because it has a great presence in the mix without adding "white noise" with equilizers. This is multi Grammy Award winning producer/mixer Michael Ilbert´s go to drum for recording and he says: "The drums sound like they are all ready equilized!"
2. It protects the drum against aging. The drum in the 3rd picture on the bottom is the first one from 2012 and the one on top is the drum from August 2026. After 14 years the drum has only minor wear of use and it is practically hard to tell wich one is the new. Ceramic coating has stood the test of time. Lets wait another 50 years, or a 100 years...You could put that drum under water put acid, beer, sweat or fire on it. That does not impress her much.
3. It looks magic, aberacadabera!
Waiting time for this drum may vary between 8-12 weeks. Other color options available. Please ask for info.
You can hear Michael Ilberts´ Excalibur Snare and 7 other snare drums as well as my special Steel drum kit on the Toontrack Sampler "The Rooms OF Hansa". There are lots of more sound examples on You tube.
